I know this thread has been dead for several months, but since I just joined, I figured I might as well answer it.

The answer will depend on what you're interested in and why you want to take lessons.  If you like soft style (tai chi, aikido, etc.) I would recommend Austin Ki-Aikido.  They are a non-profit dojo focusing on quality of teaching rather than marketing to bring in new students.  Tae Kwon Do (TKD) is such a huge industry that it deserves its own category.  I would actually recommend the TKD classes at Austin's Northwest YMCA (across from McNeil High School).  Stephanie and Dawn are the primary instructors, and between them they have several years and multiple styles of experience.  They also have "day jobs" so they're teaching because the enjoy it, not to make a living.  I teach a style called Poekoelan Tjimindie (think of it as an Indonesian Kung Fu), though I tend to teach individual and small group classes.

If anyone is interested, or has previous experience, I'm always willing to talk shop.  Big Grin
