I'm going to be purchasing my first fitness bike. I heard there were a lot of women cyclists groups. Does anyone know more about them and is anyone currently a member?

360 Cyclework in South Austin has a group ride on sunday mornings. There are usually several women there of all abilities.
My girlfriend went several weekends ago and felt very comfortable in that group. She has a small group of women riders of well if you are looking for some riders on the north side of town.

Thanks for responding. Yeah I live in Round Rock so North Austin would be more convenient for me. I've looked on the Bicycle Shop's Calender and there is a lot of info there as well. I'm going to get myself trained up for the Outlaw marathon in Round Rock on Oct. 22nd; as a beginner I'll just do the 10 mile one. Do you guys ride a lot in marathons or for leisure?

we're not marathon runners, just competitive cyclists.
There are also some weekly rides that leave from Buck's Bikes on 183 if you are interested in those. One if a flat ride, the other is a hill climb bonanza. Plus we try to make it out on the weekends.

So, have you found many good dedicated trails around yet? I'm over by 620/183 south of Cedar Park I guess it's called. Most of the riding that I've seen is done on the road while the cars are 3 feet from you going 60 mph. Not my idea of a nice ride. I've been meaning to hit some of the bike shops around to see if they have any trail maps.

So far I've just been riding in my neighborhood. I registered for the Outlaw Trail Ride on the 21st here in Round Rock. I'm going to do the 25 mile ride. Should be fun! I bought my bike at the Bicycle Sport Shop in Austin. Here is the following link incase you want to check them out and ask about Trail Maps...ask for Chris Brown, he's most helpful.
