Annual Guadalupe Tubing Trip

MOUNTAIN BREEZE CAMPGROUND
Campground Map
map not to scale - click for a larger view

Join us for our annual Texas Tubing Trip on the Guadalupe river. We get in the river Saturday morning at approx 10:00am and tube most of the afternoon. It is also a fun camping weekend, as we campout Friday and Saturday night. You can choose to camp one or both nights, or you can just meet us in the morning and tube during the day.

This is a fun trip we do with all the YAP cities in Texas, so come out and meet some new people from all over the state.

It's a very easy trip, as you can show up and pay at the campground without a reservation. We set up in the far north overflow camping area. It is $20 for the weekend to camp, whether you stay one night or two. Tube rentals are $15 per day. The campground has hot showers and a restaurant on site. This event is BYOB.

This trip is weather dependent, so if the Guadalupe river is not safe because of floods, we will not go. Or if the weather is obviously going to be very bad over the weekend, we will cancel the trip. Since you can just show up without a reservation, we can reschedule the trip if need be.
Storms in the area are very brief so even if the forecast is for rain we'll go. It's only if there is extraordinarily bad weather we'll cancel.

ARRIVAL
You can show up at anytime and get into the campground (they don't shut the gates), so no worries if you come late. However, they stop collecting money at 1am. If you show up after 1am, you will need to go to the office, first thing in the morning, to get a wristband and a parking pass.

FINDING US
Follow the map and you shouldn't have any problems finding us.  Here are a few other ways to locate our group:

  1. When you drive in, tell the person at the gate you are with the YAP group. Ask where we are.
  2. If you come in at night, stop off at the volleyball court and ask around for some YAP people. There are ALWAYS people down there playing until they kick us off around 3am.
  3. We are not going to be in the same spot as last year.....another LARGE group has reserved it that weekend.
  4. We will have YAP signs on some of our cars. So worst case you can look at each car parked for a white sign with black letters that says YAP. I also will try to have some signs near the campground so look at the posts by the cars for a sign.

CARPOOLING
A lot of people prefer to carpool. If you wish to share a ride, or are looking for a ride, post in the "discuss in forums". People want to leave and arrive at all sorts of times though.

ARRIVAL TIMES
There is a group that will arrive early on Friday and do a short tube trip that afternoon. Most people from Dallas are coming Friday. A lot of people from San Antonio or Austin may decide to come in Saturday morning instead. We have a heck of a good time Friday night, so I recommend spending the night.  Plus, it's less hassle finding us in the morning.
For those wanting to meetup with us Saturday morning, I recommend you arrive NO LATER THAN 9:30am. We always aim to get going around 10am which gets us off the campground by 10:30 and into the river at 11am.

QUESTIONS, COMMENTS or NEED A TENT TO SLEEP IN?
Please post in the "discuss in forums" link for the event. We'll all try to answer.

We have also put together a website for our trip to share with others and help make it a big & fun event:
