Take a break from the daily grind to mingle .....meet with old friends and make some new ones.
Random Acts of Kindness is hosting a Fundraising Happy Hour to benefit the International Rescue Committee.
IRC is a global leader in emergency relief, protection of human rights, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. This organization monitors and helps safeguard human rights in one of the deadliest places on the planet, Darfur. Fighting between militias, rebels and government troops is increasing across the region and the people of Darfur are suffering violence, atrocities and abduction. Children are murdered and wounded. They are abducted, used as soldiers, suffer sexual abuse and risk life threatening illness. They ultimately lose their sense of trust and hope for the future.
IRC also delivers emergency services and supplies to the province of Aceh, the region closest to the epicenter of the devastating December 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. They set up emergency programs to aid Rwandan refugees pouring into Tanzania and the former Zaire (Democratic Republic of Congo) as a result of the genocide and ensuing civil war.
