Turandot by Giacomo Puccine
Wednesday, May 21st 7pm

Turandot was the great Puccini’s last opera, left unfinished at his death and later completed by a younger contemporary using his notes. Knowing it would be his final masterpiece, the opera contains Puccini’s most extraordinary score, reflecting his desire to be forever remembered as a great composer. The beautiful princess Turandot is a woman without mercy. She does not want to be dutifully married and controlled by a man, so she cleverly devises three impossible riddles to challenge her suitors. If they dare to attempt to answer them and fail, they are executed. But passion smolders beneath Turandot’s icy pride when the noble Calaf takes up the challenge he is putting not just his love but also his life on the line.
