Trinity Hall

Forget the usual dark, musty image of Irish pubs. Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station is extremely handsome – and authentic down to its sunny yellow wallpaper. Owners – or, as they prefer, proprietors – Marius Donnelly and David Norman named it for Trinity College in Dublin, and the décor was inspired by the Provost's House on that campus. With the exception of the wood flooring, almost everything you see – from the 32-foot bar to the tableware – was brought from Ireland. Much of it was made in small family workshops. The menu surpasses pub-grub expectations, too. Chef Oscar Gutierrez has updated traditional Irish fare with modern cooking techniques. The bar offers a good range of beers – heavy on the Irish accent, of course – both on tap and in bottles. Trinity Hall offers "hearty" Irish breakfasts on weekends (from opening until 2 p.m.). Adjacent to Angelika Film Center, the pub is accessible by elevator from the underground parking garage.

Loved the atmosphere, the waitstaff was wonderful, but when I requested another drink from the bartender the guy said his boss told him to "cut me off." I would have been fine with that fact except I was not acting improperly, I was not intoxicated/buzzed/or creating a scene of any kind, and I personally felt insulted that the man in charge chose to act in a self-righteous manner by falsely judging my own circumstance. I guess he has never heard of the terms, "to each his own," "mind your own business," or believing the customer has the strength and mentality to determine when to stop drinking. It seems like this guy has some control issues and would prefer you respect his perception over your own, no matter how much you've had to drink. It was confusing that he used his manner to alienate a potential repeat customer through tactics of fear, self-superiority, and intolerance to the limitations justly placed by the customer, the law enforcement, and the community.
