Farpointe Cellar (Frisco) Review by Tait L
 | Best Wine Tasting Deal in the Metroplex
 By Tait L |
Farpointe Cellar Wine Bistro at 121 and Legacy (next to Cantina Laredo) offers easily the best wine flight deal in the metroplex. No, I don't work there nor do I get paid to say that, I just have very strong opinions about things. I'm not overstating when I say their flight structure kicks butt.
Here's what they offer - each Friday/Saturday, Farpointe puts together a unique groups of wines - usually somewhere between 10-15 total wines are selected. They split them up like this: 2 flights that each consist of 5 different wines (10 total right there) and then a Bonus flight (typically 1-3 wines). This is basically 3 total flights available. Each flight is priced (normally) at $15. The first 2 flights are often broken up in some kind of "theme" - maybe 1 flight of whites and 1 of reds. Or 1 of new world wines and 1 of old world wines. The third, bonus flight is fewer wines that are very expensive per bottle - it's typical to see wines with bottle prices over a hundred bucks.
Hands down, this is the best deal in the Metroplex because: (1) the environment of this classy bistro is awesome. Friendly staff, wonderfully decorated atmosphere - it reminds me of a neighborhood coffee shop. (2) wine is higher class wine than most tastings - $15 for 5 wine samples where each bottle is $20-60? Most places don't do that (3) Bonus flight of very expensive wines you may not normally ever get to sample and you get to try it for $15? Awesome.
I love this place. I tried it on a whim in January 2007 based on a blurb in the Dallas Morning News and I've become a regular - on a first name basis with the staff - because it's just awesome. I highly recommend you try out Farpointe Cellar's Wine Bistro asap - tell them Tait sent you!
