Does anyone know of a place in town that plays 70s music - i.e. disco, funk, soul and/or dance - on a full or P/T (1-2 times a week) basis? Preferably one sans the "$40,000/year millionaire" crowd? Thanx! Tom |

If you like 70's music, you've got to check out La Freak. They are awesome! So much fun to listen to. They play at varios venues around town. Look them up at www.lafreakband.com to see where they are playing. I don't know of a place that only plays 70's music but you can follow this band around. By the way, they play disco type 70's music. They don't play BTO, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy, Kiss, Bad Company, Grand Funk, Foghat, Alice Cooper, Black Train, Scorpions, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Heart, Jethro Tull, AC/DC, Alan Parsons or any bands like that. These are the bands I think of when I think Of 70's music. |

Hey Chris... Thanks for the update...I didn't know La Freak had a website. It's been a while but I've seen them before and they can definitely kick it! Emerald City is also a pretty wicked group and plays a few 70s tunes as well if I remember correctly. Lots of brass instruments, which is always good. Their audience seems to be a bit older as well. Unfortunately, I don't think there are many clubs left in Dallas that play much 70s music. I've heard Lee Harvey's is supposed to play some, but I'm on their email list and they always seem to feature a DJ or some sort of techno crap. I need to check out the Slip Inn, which is supposed to be interesting as well. Later! Tom |
