Hey,
I'm new to Texas and I'm looking for a relaxing dive bar that caters to late 20s/mid 30s crowd. I currently live in Frisco and I'm learning my way around Dallas. I love listening to live music and a casual, friendly atmosphere. Any suggestions?

There's Firewater. It's in Irving but really close to Dallas. It really nice because they have different areas you can sit in. Some are by the band. And there is another area that's by a fireplace. It's late 20's to 30's. Most of the people that go there have jobs and aren't too crazy. But sometimes things get out of control. They have this band called Vallejo. There one of my friends favorite band. The also have some good cover band. Don't worry it's safe.

PS. Dallas bars are really die out. Firewater in the Irving area so it's safe.

Since you are in Frisco, there are a couple local bars you might like. DownUnder Pub in the Best Buy/PetSmart parking lot just north of the mall is a great place and usually has a band, vocalist and does a Karaoke night as well. Nice place but can get crowded.
There used to be a bar called Irish Rover just west of D.U.P...but haven't been there in over a year. More intimate and quiet type place. There are a couple of places in plano that are pretty good too, Bullwinkles? on Spring Creek and custer and a little place on the NE corner of Spring Creek and Coit....small sports bar and nothing fancy and then there is always Varsity Sports bar on the NW that's always been popular too.
Shout out sometime and we could setup an event...I have been itching to get out more in that area instead of driving so far to Dallas/Las Colinas.

Oh, how I love me some dive bars! I am always on the lookout for the ultimate dive Unfortunately, I don't make it up to Frisco much... Here's a list of my favorite dives around the Dallas area. All are casual with friendly crowds and most have live bands on the weekends.

Inwood Tavern - Dallas (inwood and lovers ln)
Yucatan Beach Club - Coppell
Texas Bar and Grille - Las Colinas
