I am working on a new ice breakers feature on the website for events with a goal to get people to interact on the website before an event and also have some 'ice breakers' and things to talk about at the event. Here are my ideas
How would this work? 1.) Have an Ice Breakers Page for each Event. An entire page dedicated to and designed for social interaction before and during an event. 2.) Event Leader can choose from different Ice Breaker Themes including a generic one, one for the specific event category (such as golf) or maybe something zany, introspective or whatever 3.) Event Leader can choose from different Ice Breaker Games\Types\Formats 4.) Have option for members to contribute Ice Breakers to different categories or submit their own category for approval
What is an Ice Breaker? 1.) It could be a question you can choose from for ppl to ask you at an event you have signed up for 2.) It could be you selecting your favorite movie quote or favorite softball position or movie genre 3.) It could be a page where an event leader asks a question everyone can answer (what movie character do you most identify with?) 4.) It could be a topic related to the event that ppl can discuss 5.) It could be some game such as everyone selects two truths and a lie about themselves and ppl have to guess and can play the 'game' online before mtg people
Example Theme - 80s Party Ice Breaker Page As an example, an ice breaker page for an 80s theme party may have
1.) A page where you list who you are dressing up as 2.) Some 80s related ice breaker questions you can choose from for ppl to ask you at the party 3.) And 80s trivia contest ppl can play online before the event
Anyways, I am still coming up with ideas for this and figuring out how it may work. It you have ideas or comments on this, please post here or send me a YAP msg.
Thanks, Jason

So some of the ice breaker games I am thinking about so far are. Note playing these games is optional.
1.) Two Truths and a Lie. Based on a theme related to the event as chosen by the event leader, each person can submit two truths and a lie about themselves. People can all vote for which ones they think are right and the results are revealed the day before the event with the winner the one who fooled the most ppl and the loser the one who fooled the least/
2.) The I Never Game. Each person can submit something they have never done related to a specific theme. Such as I have never dressed up as a ghost for halloween. And everyone else can choose to answer if they have done that or not.
3.) The Joke Punchline game. You are able to select one joke and one (non matching) punchline. Everyone else does the same. Every certain period of time you are allowed to 'steal' someone else's punchline and swap yours with theirs. As soon as you get a correct match, thus making it funny, your joke is complete.
4.) Kathy's Hat. This is not what the game is going to actually be called. But it is modeled after the Santa Hat and the King's Crown game played on a couple party buses that Kathy knows about.
An event leader can choose certain, limited unique 'virtual items' to release up for grabs. Kinda a toy bag of sorts. Everyone can grab whatever items they want initially. And then later they can take them from others. It could be a santa hat, a gigantic beer, magic dancing shoes, or whatever fun and zany things I or others can add for ppl to choose from. An item would consist of an icon and a name for that icon.
There may be some sort of rule so you cannot just randomly take someone's item. You may have a challenge of some sorts to pass first or there may be a delay in between selecting items.
Or we could attach certain tasks to each item such as if you choose the magic dancing shoes you are required to show off a dance at the event.
Another flip side is we could have bad item(s) along with good ones. And instead of grabbing them from others, you dump your bad item on others and they in turn have to dump it onto someone else or get stuck with the rotten tomato or dunce hat or hot potato or what not....
5.) Challenges - An event leader can choose from or add a handful of 'challenges' that members can volunteer to undertake for an event. This could be anything from to 'bowl once with your opposite hand' to 'tell a funny joke' to 'share an embrassing story about yourself' or 'buy the event leader a drink' or whatever. If anyone is feeling daring, they can choose to undertake\volunteer for one of these challenges which would make for a fun ice breaker at the event.

I like the "Kathy's Hat" idea...and think it should be named that as well! Also the buy the host a drink...maybe I'll start hosting some events!

I like this idea. I just joined and was a bit nervous about signing up for events since I didn't know anyone yet. This sounds like a fun way to get to know the people before meeting them
