I'm looking for work in the Dallas area. I got laidoff before Thanksgiving and still haven't found anything. Please if anyone knows of companies hiring the first of the year please let me know.

I'd suggest being very specific in what you are looking for when emailing or posting for job ops. If you are general, then people will assume that you are not qualified. Even if you put something like software engineer or financial analyst nobody will respond since there is such a wide variety of qualifications and desired experience levels for most fields. Also, if your job is industry specific be sure to include that too.
