Looks like we will need a third driver for sure.  I'll be picking up three people @ I45 & 1960.  One person bowed out, but didn't remove his RSVP.  So, we have three car's worth of people.  :)  Collect gas money, people.  Ha!

Here's the best route (from past experience) for anyone interested in meeting up with us later:

*  Take I-45 North and get off at Exit 87 (TX-105)  (40 miles from Midtown).
*  Turn left onto TX-105 W (W Davis St) and go 26 miles to Plantersville.
*  Turn left onto FM-1774 S.  You will see signs for the Festival about 6 or 7 miles in.

I agree with Adam, avoid 249!  That route gets packed, especially later in the day.

EVENT UPDATE:

Happy Friday!

I hope everybody has had a good week and is looking forward to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow. Remember, you can get discounted tickets at Randalls and other grocery stores at the Customer Service desk for a few dollars off. ($19 instead of $23 at the gate.)

Just as a reminder, we'll be leaving my house at 8 AM sharp. As of now, it looks like we'll have eight people driving together, with a few people meeting us at the festival later on. So, we'll probably just need two drivers for the main group (April and I). If more people show up, please consider being a volunteer driver. :)

The weather looks like it'll cooperate just fine and it'll be a fantastic time for all. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow! Please put my number in your phone: 832-563-7397 and feel free to give me a call if you have any questions!

Please check the event forum for any last minute updates.

I am not wearing a kilt...when a Hello Kitty costume will perfectly suffice.  (She's Irish, you know...)

EVENT UPDATE:

Good afternoon,

Hopefully, everybody is having a nice relaxing Sunday. I want to thank everybody for coming out last night to the pre-party. Everybody was great and respectful to my home, which I appreciate (but MAN you guys are slobs)! Use a napkin, would 'ya? :) I seem to have some EXTRA beer left over from the yappers and don't think I'll need to buy chips/cookies/cake for the next six months!

I'm hoping all the first time visitors enjoyed themselves. Sure enough, Union Bar turned into a packed house and it was nice to walk over as a big group.

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody again at the next event! (I need to check, but I think it's at Chuy's on the 9th.) I'll start updating the plans for the Renaissance Festival later this week. That one is scheduled for the 14th.

Have a great day!

EVENT UPDATE:

Hi everybody,

Halloween is coming up fast! I hope everybody has had a great week and I personally am more than ready for the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow at the pre-party at 7-9. Then, we 'migrate' (or 'Trick or Treat') our way down two blocks and continue the fun at Union Bar.

To find my house, remember to click on the link posted in the event description for a map. Once you're in Midtown, turn onto Dennis Street (however you get there). My house is has direct street access and is between "Helena" and "Albany". Just look for the street number (105) on the bottom of the door. If you're close and can't find it, feel free to give me a call at 832-563-7397 and I'll help you find it.

Parking is fine anywhere in the area. Just remember to keep all your personal belongings out of sight (just to be safe).

Have a great Friday, everyone!

EVENT UPDATE:

Good morning!

I wanted to thank all the members for coming out last night and making it such a success. I had a fantastic time and hope the rest of you did too and that you have a a nice relaxing Sunday to wrap up your weekend.

Some of my personal highlights were watching people have a ball singing karaeoke at the afterparty as well as watching Bronwyn's 'aggressive' skee ball tactics (no injuries!!!). :)

Keep an eye out for some new events appearing on the calendar soon. I believe April is working on a Holloween party in Midtown, and we're talking about setting up an outing to the Renaissance Festival too.

Okay, this is not an official YAP event, but if people are in the Midtown area on Monday night feel free to stop by Buffalo Wild Wings on West Gray. We kind of have a standard 'thing' going and a group of us usually get together after work for Monday Night Football, because we just don't feel like sitting home after a long day at work. Feel free to give me a call if you want some more details.

Have a great Sunday!

EVENT UPDATE:

Well, everyone it looks like we've almost survived another week! Who's ready for the weekend? I'm looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow at Dave and Busters: familiar faces and some new ones as well. We'll meet at the main bar near the entrance around 7 and probably hang out there for a little while to give people a chance to show up and get acquainted. Just look for the YAP signs in the area. If the signs are gone, it means we headed into the arcade.

After much deliberation (and even more procrastination), we've finally come up our afterparty location: The Richmond Arms Pub which is about 2 blocks east of Dave & Busters. It's close enough to walk if you don't feel like moving your car.

http://www.richmondarmsonline.com/
5920 Richmond Ave (77057), just East of Fountain View Drive. 713.784.7722

Here is my cell number, just in case you're running late and can't find the group: 832-563-7397. Texting will probably work better than calling, as the reception isn't necessariliy the best inside Dave and Busters, plus it can be pretty noisy. :)

Okay, the place I WAS thinking of was Scott Gertner's Sports Bar, but I looked it up online and the reviews were pretty horrible.  It would have been great, because it's very walkable (just around the corner) and used to be a very relaxed atmosphere.  From what I read, not anymore and they have a cover charge.

So, I'm thinking of taking Ali's idea and going with Richmond Arms which is just another block away and still walkable if people don't feel like fighting for parking on Sat night.   Thanks, Ali!
