This is something I participated in back when I first moved here. Here is a little something I just swiped from their website (memphisdodgeball.com)
For the uninitiated or forgetful, here's the deal...
- 10 weeks of dodgeball and a tournament for chance to win a trophy and keg party for your team costs just $50.
- teams are a minimum of 6 players (up to 10). 6 play at a time.
- games are held at the Mason YMCA across the street from RP Tracks and the Tiger Bookstore
- if you do not have a team but would like to play, there will be a volunteer draft this season to shake up some teams. If you want in on the draft, sign up sheets will be at the first week of open play with a draft held at a party at my house at a time and date yet to be determined.
- We will be returning to a single unified league with only one type of ball - recreational. I know there will be some disappointed players; however, there is not enough demand to maintain two divisions to my satisfaction. We will re-evaluate this decision at the end of the fall. Summer will definitely feature competitive to gear people up for the major tournaments.
So this was fun when I participated - although its probably better for those who are closer to this YMCA, for driving from Collierville to play took nearly twice as long as you were there to actually play.
This forum can be used to create a team down the road if YAP members care to, or as shown above, they do have a draft for single players. Plus it can be a good reason to go out and hit a bar or whatever postgame with your teammates.
