Staten Island to visit the Green roof at the St George Terminal while we cross the water for this fun, short trip. Our tour guide Bob will discuss what a "Green" roof is, what it achieves and what makes it eco-friendly.
WHEN: Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM
WHERE: 1 Broadway: Across The Street From Battery Park Entrance
COST: $30.00 Prepaid

When we get back to Battery Park City, we'll walk past the
Museum of
Jewish Heritage and talk about what the Museum did to make their new wing energy efficient.
Directly opposite the museum is the Visionaire, a building that will go "Platinum" LEED certified. Bob will explain exactly what that means - why they got it and how it makes that building "Green."
We'll walk to the Mercantile Exchange - 1st building in NYC and NYS to be refitted as a "Green" building. We'll learn how they did it and what that means.
As we walk between points, I will discuss the 2 organizations that gives "guidance" to the real estate and construction industry, in becoming eco-friendly and more energy efficient. I'll also talk about an organization that watches the building industry and recognizes "exceptional" businesses which are making strong efforts to lessen their carbon foot print.
Depending on how long the tour takes we may go to the Irish Hunger Memorial - 1st living memorial in NYC and explain why it is that and what makes it so unique.
