If things go according to plan, I will be moving to the Raleigh area in about a month. I'm looking for reccomendations on where to live. I'm hoping to find an area where there are a good number of "young professionals" (I'm 24). I'd like an area that's considered safe but not boring. I've heard that the closer to NC State, the better the night life. Since I've only been to Raleigh once in my life, I'm not at all familiar with the area so I don't know what the "good" or "bad" areas are. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, I would be working in Cary and would prefer not to have a terrible commute if at all possible.

Thanks!

I have heard similar things about living close to NC State as well as downtown Raleigh (near the bar district). I know a fellow that just moved to a penthouse apartment in the center of downtown Raleigh and he is 24 too. His rent is somewhere around $700 a month per person in a two bedroom. Living in Cary can be really expensive and I think you are making the right choice living more towards Raleigh. I'm sorry my help is limited, but I've only been here for about 2 months now. I can only suggest was has been told to me as well.

i've been here a little over a year so my advice may be limited as well but there are a lot of apartments/townhomes on the nw side of raleigh starting near nc state and all the way up to brier creek along glenwood. depending on how close you want/need to be near the downtown area and nightlife, i'm sure you can find an appropriate place in that part of town. really you are never really far from anything in raleigh - just find what works best for you. good luck!
