Who would like to go to eat german food? What about beer and wings? What are good days?
Juniors on a Friday night? Nikz for drinks or even dinner? What about dessert at Bennigans?
Just state the dates and we can plan it ourselves! woo hoo!

Old Germany resteraunt in Choctaw is quite good and they have an Oktoberfest celebration every September the weekend after laborday. I recommend being there AT 5pm September 7 for the tapping of the ceremonial keg. I will be there.

The Royal Bavaria on Sooner road in Moore has better food and homemade beer but their beer is only 3% alcohol.

The best German festival in the state is Tulsa oktoberfest which will be October19-22 this year. It is a fun fun fun tent party!!!! Be sure to search the tents for the one that has real German beer, most of the tents sell American beer. I will be there too.

Hey since you have the idea and did the research about Old Germany , then you could be a host! What do you think....host with the most.....you can do it! That way it gets on this calender! Now Tracy needs to host....then we need Bob...Justin too....And the other members...I sent emails to them have not heard back yet.
.....I would love to go so I know I will be there Sept 7th at 5pm in Choctaw. I will have to see if other people might want to go (non members)  I think it will be fun!
Do you have more info about Tulsa?
Hey what about Danny Bob's on a Friday evening?

Hey everyone! I guess Bobby said you have to have a picture to host an event. We will have to work on getting everyone a photo taken so they will have a face with the profile!
I will get the info on the German fest on Sept 7th and post  it tomorrow. (monday Aug 21) I will have all the info for those who are not familiar with Choctaw. Brian can still be the host. It was his idea so we can still give him credit. Since we dont get a free month (haha) maybe we can just buy him a beer! Sound good?
Hope everyone is doing great!
We have 21 members!! wow!
Cant wait to meet everyone!

Another German restaurant in the OKC area is Jutta's Keller (see also http://www.castlefalls.com/Juttas_%20Keller_Restaurant.htm ) on MacArthur a little north of Reno. It was very good when I dined there about 4 years ago, but has changed owners since then and I haven't made it there again since.
I've been to Old Germany twice, they're excellent also. The family that runs that place is from Bad Soden, very near Kelkheim, Germany, where I used to work.
Royal Bavaria in Moore is good too - the point about the 3.2% beer is correct as nothing stronger may be brewed in Oklahoma, but even with that the beer tasted good.
When I visited the Tulsa Oktoberfest in 2002, all they served there was 3.2 beer as well - the closest they got to German beer at all was Paulaner Light. For the beer, this certainly wasn't worth it, at least not compared to the ones they used to have in Bricktown.
Choctaw is a bit far out - don't think I'll make it there on the Thursday at 5 ("O'zapft is!"), but I might go take a look at it that Saturday.
Look forward to meeting everyone tonight at Chelino's!

Hey Wolf,
I go to oktoberfest in Tulsa almost every year and last year was the first time they had German Bier above 3.2%. I hope they sold enough that they will have it every year! They will have an excellent selection in Choctaw next week I am sure.

Um mit dem deutschen Essen endlich zur Sache zu kommen:

I'm considering giving Jutta's Keller (OKC, MacArthur between Reno and 10th) a try this Saturday or one of the next several to see if they're still as great as I remember them from a good 4 years ago (under a different name but with a quite similar menu, such that I wonder if it might still the same person in the kitchen who definitely knew what they were doing).
If this pans out, I would consider doing a YAP Club dinner there. They are generally only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5:30pm for dinner (but seemingly can accommodate groups any other night or any day for lunch if they'll eat at least $250 worth - see also http://www.castlefalls.com/Juttas_%20Keller_Restaurant.htm ).

As for a date and time for the YAP Club, if this does end up looking good:
- Would you be interested in going to Jutta's Keller for dinner on Thursday, October 26, at 6 pm or perhaps later?
- Or, would some Saturday (at essentially any time from 5:30 onward) in the near future sound better?
- Or would a Friday be the only evening that would work?

If anyone has any positive/negative experiences with Jutta's Keller at Castle Falls (e. g. for such and such reasons, you'd prefer Old Germany in Choctaw http://www.oldgermany.com/ or the Royal Bavaria in Moore http://www.royal-bavaria.com/ over Jutta's Keller), please post them on this forum.

Prost,
Wolf

Hey Wolf,
I have made it back from Bavaria alive and well and had a wonderful time. I have not been to the Keller in the Castle in a couple of years but I would go again. The food has always been quite good there. The 26th works for me better than any weekends for the next six weeks as I will be out of town a lot in the near future. There seems to have been little activity here while I was away so you should post it and host it.
Prost!
