Halloween at McGillin's Olde Ale House 2008
Celebrate Halloween at McGillin’s Olde Ale House Costumed karaoke, pumpkin drinks and, even a ghost! Costume contest with cash prizes
PHILADELPHIA (October 6, 2008) – McGillin’s Olde Ale House, the oldest continuously operating tavern in Philadelphia, has a bagful of treats planned for Halloween. The celebration, on Friday, October 31, will include scary-aoke (costumed karaoke), a costume contest with a cash prizes, pumpkin bombs, pumpkin martinis and even a ghost.
As a treat, cash prizes will be awarded for the best Halloween costumes. The judging will take place at midnight. No cover.
Those seeking a liquid treat can imbibe on McGillin’s Pumpkin Bombs, made with pumpkin liquor and Captain Morgan Rum in Pumpkin Ale, or a Pumpkin Martini. Drink specials.
McGillin’s has not only spirits (drinks) but also spirits (ghosts), according to investigators from South Jersey Paranormal Research, a non-profit organization that investigates such phenomena. Perhaps it is Ma McGillin, who has been dead for 70 years, looking for Pa McGillin, who died and left her with a bar to run and 13 kids to raise upstairs. A ghostly visit would be a real Halloween treat.
In October 2008, Gourmet magazine named McGillin’s “one of the 14 coolest bars in the U.S.”
