Hi..I would love to ask everyone's opinion on the best places, not the usual bar and club scene (unless it is a really sophisticated and well organized establishment), where one can organize a social event. I will be organizing a series of events beginning late this year and throughout 2010 to include music, art, style, and mixers. Please let me know of any potential galleries, cafes, event rooms, and other alternative and cozy venues in the Raleigh/Durham area that may be perfect for events that can accommodate less than 300 people.

I'm biased because it's my place, but LabourLove Gallery in downtown Durham sounds like it might be what you're looking for. We're in Golden Belt - an old textile mill at 807 East Main. Stop by and check us out. We're starting a weekend lounge in the space soon where we'll schedule small concerts, and art related events.
