I hope you will join the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard for an important forum on September 18 in Durham.
As a young, leading, community-focused executive in North Carolina, the Chief of Naval Operations - Admiral Gary Roughead of the United States Navy - thought you would be interested in attending this unique event. The Admiral proudly hosts a series widely known as Conversations with the Country. For the first time in history, our combined maritime forces are actively engaging our nation’s business, academic, and policy leaders as well as local school officials, civic groups, community leaders, and Reserve and Guard units.
The purpose of the series is to expose citizens to issues related to maritime security, engage them in meaningful give-and-take on the issues, and encourage them to continue their involvement. No one nation has the resources required to provide safety and security throughout the entire maritime domain. Increasingly, governments, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and the private sector will form partnerships of common interest. This series is a place to begin those partnerships.
If you are willing to freely share your opinions about our nation’s role in humanitarian aid, transportation security, the safety of our global waterways, domestic and international terrorism, cyber warfare, and dedication to preserving peace and fostering strong alliances with our global partners, we would like to hear from you. You are encouraged to invite your peers to this by-invitation-only event, provided they are community-focused senior executives eager to collaborate with our tri-service hosts.
Complete details and registration information can be found on our site at http://www.conversationswiththecountry.com/.
Seating is extremely limited and registrations must be received by September 8, 2008.
