On Sunday, April 26, 2009, families throughout Northern California are invited to experience one of the most festive family cultural events in California at the 18th Annual Festival de la Familia (Festival of the Family) at Cal Expo in Sacramento. This year's festival celebrates more than 20 Latino cultures all in one place, at one time, for one fun-filled day -- no passport or babysitter required.
Non-stop entertainment will be provided from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. as Festival de la Familia offers a whole host of family friendly, safe events. Festival attendees will tempt their taste buds with Latin flavors and savory dishes; view authentic arts and crafts or create their own; tap their toes and sway to the beats of genuine Latin music; be awed by the plethora of exhibits where they'll learn about Latin heritage; or get involved in one of the numerous community outreach opportunities. If it's Latino, it's here. More than 200 vendors are participating in this year's event.
“Named America’s most diverse city by Time magazine, Sacramento is the perfect backdrop to host this multi-cultural event. Although Festival de la Familia focuses on Latino cultures, the event is opened to everyone," said Susie Cano-Guzman, Festival de la Familia board president. “The festival provides us with a wonderful opportunity to share the many strong values and family traditions found in a broad spectrum of Latino communities. Festival de la Familia is a celebration of families for all families."
